Lauren Waring Douglas began her professional career as a production coordinator for South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV). Some of her projects include credits with Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, A&E Television - Biography Network and ABC Studios. She received her Master of Arts Degree in Media Management from Columbia College Chicago at the height of the Great Recession which started a series of defining moments in her life. At one point, Lauren was temping for three different agencies. Feeling defeated she packed her things and moved back to South Carolina, but something immediately happened when she crossed the border into her home state. Her phone started ringing, and each phone call was someone offering her a freelance gig!

She knew then, a significant focus of her life’s work would be in South Carolina uplifting and celebrating the stories of her Gullah Geechee heritage.

Lauren seeks to give voice to the oft-silenced Gullah Geechee culture of South Carolina.
